Emma heads up our Tax and VAT Consultancy division.  She entered HMRC as a direct entrant in 2000 after completing her law degree at Leicester University.  She trained for 8 years as a full HMRC Inspector before joining CCH Fee Protection in 2008. At HMRC Emma was an HMRC Inspector dealing with Income Tax and Corporation Tax enquiries, ranging from individual sole traders to large multi-national companies. She has headed up the Consultancy team since 2009 and the Tax and VAT Advice lines since 2012.

Neil is the Team Leader for the consultancy team, managing a multi-disciplinary team dealing with Full and Aspect CT and IT enquiries, all aspects of Employment Taxes enquiries including National Minimum wage and written technical consultancy as well as undertaking consultancy on his own portfolio of clients. Neil has worked in tax for 30 years, starting in Customs and Excise and transferring over to the Inland Revenue.  He has also worked in various practices including Grant Thornton and PWC and currently specialises in technical enquiry work.

Neeta Vora ATT

Having started her career with a top 10 firm providing tax efficient solutions to high net worth individuals and small and medium sized businesses, Neeta joined CCH (now known as Croner Taxwise Limited) in 2015 from Accountax Consulting where she had established an enviable record in successfully defending IR35 and CIS enquiry cases (and other contentious issues), achieving settlements with HMRC and avoiding cases being heard at First Tier Tribunal.  Neeta also handled a portfolio of clients which included those within the Construction Industry, Umbrella Companies, Agencies and Limited Company service providers.  Neeta has considerable presentation experience, delivering seminars, providing in-house training to companies and Accountants on various areas of her expertise (in particular IR35 and employment status). Neeta also provides representation at First Tier Tribunal

Alexander has worked at Croner Taxwise since 2014. He has successfully completed his IR35 training and now undertakes contract reviews.

Hilary Budd

Hilary Budd

Hilary has worked in VAT since 1997, including five years with HMRC as an Assurance and Enquiries Officer. She spent eight years as a VAT manager, initially with a mid-tier accountancy firm, followed by six years with PricewaterhouseCoopers. She has both advisory and compliance experience, working with a wide variety of clients ranging from small owner-managed businesses, to not-for-profit organisations and large multinational corporations, on the full range of VAT technical matters.

Julie has worked in VAT since 2004. She started at HMRC as an Assurance Officer where she carried out compliance visits on a wide range of VAT registered businesses. Julie joined the team in 2007 where she has gained extensive knowledge of many aspects of VAT. She undertakes bespoke consultancy, provides seminars for Croner Taxwise clients and has editorial responsibility for the team’s journal VAT Voice.

Colin began to specialise in tax in 1983. He has previously spent time as a tax partner with two leading accountancy firms and, more recently, as partner in a specialist tax consultancy business providing planning advice and problem solving for successful owner-managed businesses and their owners across the UK.

Gary Morris

Gary Morris

Gary is a Senior Tax Consultant at Croner Tax. His career in tax goes back forty years. After ten years’ service he left the Inland Revenue as an Inspector of Taxes to go into practice specialising in defending clients who are the subject of a tax investigation. He has worked for major accountancy firms including Smith & Williamson in London and PWC in Manchester where he was a senior manager. He has been a consultant with Croner Tax and its predecessor companies since 2001 and specialises in Self Assessment enquiries and COP9 suspected serious fraud cases.
