Mark was with HMRC for 28 years and undertook technical training to the highest level within that organisation. Prior to Leaving HMRC, he was officer in charge of an office in Devon until its closure as part of the restructuring of HMRC in May 2015.
During his time with HMRC he undertook a large number of roles ranging from Corporation Tax specialist working with large companies to Compliance Team Leader of a team undertaking Income Tax enquiries. For the last couple of years at HMRC in addition to personally working Corporation Tax enquiries and managing a small compliance team he specialised in advising colleagues in other districts on complex Capital Allowances issues. In this role he worked for HMRC Head Office providing consultancy advice to Local Compliance caseworkers across Wales and Southern England and also helped write the Agent’s Toolkit on this subject. He has many years of experience of the HMRC tax enquiry and penalty regimes, both as a case worker and manager. Since leaving HMRC he has also been involved in preparing Research & Development Tax Credit claims.
